On Thursday, March 7th teams from our Ignite, Sprint and Prototyping Fund programs met with Joe Chittenden-Veal (NYU GSAS ‘18) for Office Hours. Joe is an Investor and Data Scientist at Greycroft where he spends his time sourcing, evaluating, and executing early-stage investment opportunities and working with existing portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Greycroft, Joe worked for five years in London at IBM and the startup Big Data Partnership (acquired by Teradata) in a variety of technology consulting roles ranging from advising large telcos on technical strategy to managing development of distributed Deep Learning products. Joe has also spent time working with Data Collective Venture Capital in the Bay Area and Northzone Ventures in New York.
Joe holds an M.S. in Data Science from NYU where he focused on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, and an MSc in Mathematics & Philosophy from Oxford University.
After the meetings, I asked Joe to share one piece of advice to NYU entrepreneurs. He advised that,
“It is never too early to have a financial model. It’s going to change a million times but having something theoretical to show investors how you see the business growing will be helpful to future conversations.”
Huge thanks to Joe for hosting Office Hours at NYU!
