Imagine this! You wake up on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 10. The soon-to-be fall air is crisp, and you realize you missed the day's Blackstone LaunchPad Startup School, Visionary Ventures: Terri Burns on Founding Her Own VC Fund.

You're horrified. It’s worse than that recurring nightmare of sleeping through all your alarms on the first day of class — much worse … good thing I was there.

Here’s what you missed: Terri Burns (Courant '16) shared her one-of-a-kind storied journey to becoming a founder of her own VC. Since graduating from NYU's Computer Science program just a few years ago, Burns has lived many lives — from working as a top performing product manager at X (in its bird app heyday), to being poached by GV (formerly Google Ventures) as their youngest partner in history, to receiving a call from billionaire founder Jack Dorsey himself trying to win her back, to branching out on her own path in VC nonetheless.

Terri is THE trailblazer of our generation. She made a name for herself in venture with her innovative investments at GV, earning herself a spot on Forbes' "30 Under 30" list in 2021. She was even an early investor in one of New York’s favorite event apps, Partiful.

Since her time at GV, Terri has gone on to launch her VC brainchild, where she invests in pre-seed technology companies and rockstar founders like herself.

If you were unable to attend Terri’s talk, you’re not out of luck! We have a roster of amazing speakers for our Fall ‘24 Startup School Workshop Series. RSVP for an upcoming workshop, and learn more about our Blackstone LaunchPad Startup Schools.
