Startup Showcase: Sunhouse

Founded by musician brothers Tenoch and Tlacael Esparza (Steinhardt '14), Sunhouse uses the latest advances in sensor and signal technology to reinvigorate live performance and expand the sonic possibilities of music making. Sensory Percussion, their first product, is a modern take on electronic drums that captures the true expressive nature of drumming. While standard trigger systems turn your drum into little more than an on/off button, Sensory Percussion listens and reacts, responding to the essence of your performance in real time.

"Drummers may soon add a dash of electronic music to their band's sound, or even switch genres outright, without having to abandon their finely-honed skills." - Engadget

Co-founder, Tlacael Esparza received his masters in music tech at NYU in 2014 and the brothers were selected into the 2014 Summer Launchpad program. During their time in the program, they were able to transition from working on the initial prototype into a product redesign based on feedback from the potential customer base.
