Welcome Entrepreneur-in-Residence Andy Moss

The NYU Entrepreneurial Institute is excited to announce that tech veteran Andy Moss has joined our team as the first of two Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EiR) at the new NYU Leslie eLab.

As an EiR, Andy will serve in a part-time capacity (approximately two days per week) mentoring, coaching and advising NYU student and faculty startup teams at the Leslie eLab. Andy will collaborate with the NYU Entrepreneurial Institute team to deliver programs, resources and initiatives to help NYU startups start up.

Andy brings a wealth of experience in lean startups, early stage investing and the information technology sectors. In addition to his role at NYU, Andy also serves as a mentor at The Refinery and as an advisor to Topstone Angels, and  has been an active investor in the tech sector for over 15 years. Previously he has founded his own startup, ESMZone (acquired by Flat World Knowledge) and has advised many others personally through Lean Launch Ventures (LLV), an accelerator he founded in 2012 in cooperation with Connecticut Innovations. LLV utilizes the Lean Startup methodology and brings together a strong and diverse mentor network to guide the entrepreneurs.

Earlier in his career, Andy spent 17 years as an internal entrepreneur within Microsoft developing new products and services.  His skills combine a unique blend of business insight, technical strength and public policy understanding. He leverages these skills to enable companies to discover clarity from the chaos of innovation. Specifically, he helps them with product planning, positioning & competitive analysis leading to credible product roadmaps, improved organizational productivity, effective implementation plans, identifying distribution channels and partnering opportunities. His industry experience spans the corporate, consumer and educational markets. While at Microsoft, he led pioneering efforts in digital media, online service delivery, distributed computing, & software development architecture and methodologies. He also frequently represented Microsoft in Congress, at the FCC and other government and industry forums.

Andy serves on several boards and commissions including, Trustee at Cheshire Academy, Chair Westport Youth Commission, Chair Compo Beach Site Design/Improvement Committee, former Chair Westport Parks & Recreation Commission and others.
