Startup of the Week: a note from Curtain

Every week, the NYU Entrepreneurial Institute elects a Startup of the Week. We then invite the founders of these startups to share a blog post with our community. These posts can be inspirational, educational, or entertaining. Founders can share founding stories, resources, lessons, anything they want.

This week's Startup of the Week is Curtain. Curtain is creating a mobile dating application with the mission of bringing face-to-face human interaction to dating in the digital age. It was founded by Brenden Strauss (SPS '20), Ben Honig, and Lexi Strauss.

From the founder:

We built Curtain on a mission to improve human connection for mobile daters. We’re eliminating the need for endless swipes and chats, and instead are allowing users to get to know one another through face-to-face communication. Video dates allow you to decide whether there’s a possible connection in mere seconds, so you can feel more confident when that first date rolls around.

Currently, we are in the app store and actively hosting organized video calls for our NYC users twice a week - Sundays and Wednesdays at 9:00 PM EST. Acquiring new users is a lot of work but it is very rewarding as we've already seen matches turn into real life first dates using our platform! So please, help support Curtain by downloading "Curtain" in the app store, creating a profile, and saying yes to face-to-face mobile dating.
