Startup Bootcamp

Fall Bootcamp 1: Oct. 18 & Oct. 25 | Fall Bootcamp 2: Nov. 8 & Nov. 22

Startup Bootcamps are two half-day workshops to help founders test the value of their ideas and validate (or invalidate) the core of their business: the problem they are solving for their initial target customers. During the Bootcamp, teams learn the fundamentals of building a successful startup and test their initial ideas through customer research, interactive workshops and dedicated coaching.

Who Can Apply?

Open to all NYU student, faculty, or staff-led teams who:

Have an idea for a unique and compelling startup or social venture
Have expertise and/or insights into the problem they hope to solve with their venture
Are interested in building a highly-scalable venture

What You Can Expect

The NYU Entrepreneurial Institute offers Startup Bootcamps for founders to learn how to test the value of their solutions with future customers and partners by Getting Out of the Building.

Each Bootcamp is a two half-day commitment on Fridays via Zoom.

Day 1: Interactive workshops on nailing your target market and beachhead customer and conducting customer discovery. Participants will also present their venture ideas and receive feedback from the NYU Entrepreneurial Institute’s coaching team and founders in residence.
Between Day 1 & 2: Each team will endeavor to complete at least ten interviews with their potential target customers, and receive dedicated coaching by startup experts and successful founders.
Day 2: Each team presents on business insights from customer discovery and receives feedback on their business strategy from the coaching team. Participants can also expect workshops on assessing competition and testing the value of solutions, as well as an overview of next resources exclusively available to Bootcamp graduates.
Following the Bootcamp: Teams will be offered continued coaching, and select teams will be invited to interview for the next Startup Sprint (only 30% of Sprint applicants make it to the interview round, so you’ll have made the cut!). Participants will also receive a certificate of completion at an in person networking event following the bootcamp.

Who the Startup Bootcamp is For

Bootcamps are open to all NYU student, faculty, or researcher-led teams who:

Have an idea for a unique and compelling startup or social venture
Have expertise and/or insights into the problem they hope to solve with their venture
Are interested in building a highly-scalable venture (i.e. consulting and small and/or undifferentiated businesses will not be a fit)
Are committed to attending BOTH the half-day sessions and
NOTE: Preference is given to teams with two or more members, and to those with a technical co-founder (for tech-enabled businesses); Only one team member needs to be affiliated with NYU.
For Faculty and researchers hoping to explore the commercial potential of their research, please consider applying to the NSF sponsored Tech Venture Workshop instead of the Bootcamp.

Bootcamp Dates

Bootcamps are offered 5 times a year. The Fall ’24 Bootcamps will be held on:

Fall Bootcamp 1: October 18 & October 25, from 1-6pm | You must attend BOTH days. Apply by September 27, at 6pm.
Fall Bootcamp 2: November 8 & November 22, from 1-6pm | You must attend BOTH days. Apply by October 17, at 6pm.
