More about our Keynote

Peggy Yu Yu is the Co-Founder and Executive Chairwoman of Dangdang.com, a respected online bookseller in China. Peggy started the company in 2000 and took it public in NYSE I in December 2010. Dangdang was the first e-commerce company that went IPO in the US market. The company went private September 2016.

In the early days, Dangdang, together with Amazon China and others, pioneered e-commerce in China. At a time when credit cards were hardly used and online payments not existing yet, Dangdang created the cash-on-delivery model and had bicycle boys complete the last step of delivering goods and collect money. Facing competitors many times its size, Dangdang has strategically located its resources and continued to grow with great profit.

Born in Chongqing, China, Peggy graduated with bachelor degree from Branch Campus of Beijing Foreign Language Institute in 1986. She later obtained an MBA from the Stern School of New York University. She worked for Babcock and Wilcox in fossil generation for years. She completed one of the first Chinese leverage buy out in the US, arranged China Non-Ferrous Medal to buy divested unit of General Motors.

Peggy had numerous awards, including Ten Most Influential Businesswomen in Asia by the Wall Street Journal in 2006 and one of the Ten Best Women CEOs in Ten Years by China Entrepreneur magazine in 2018.
