Startup Showcase: Suneris

Suneris has developed a gel technology that stops traumatic bleeding in seconds without the need for manual pressure. Suneris’ products can be used during emergency situations seen in surgeries and on the battlefield. The company’s first product, VETIGEL™, is designed for veterinarians to stop internal and external bleeding during surgeries and will be released to the market in 2015.

Co-founders Joe Landolina (Engineering ’14) and Isaac Miller (Stern ’12) met each other at the teammate hunt for the NYU Technology Venture Competition (part of the $200,000 Entrepreneur’s Challenge) in 2010. They made it to the finals of the competition, as a freshman and junior, and then founded Suneris, Inc. in early 2012 to commercialize the technology. They have since closed a seed round of funding, participated in development programs around the city, including the NYCEDC Entrepreneurship Lab and the InSITE Fellows Program, and have built a lab and manufacturing facility in Brooklyn. Joe and Isaac remain active in the NYU community and are currently Innovation Consultants at the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering where they teach invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship to engineering students.

This is the second post in the Startup Showcase series featuring video profiles of startups founded by NYU students, faculty and researchers.
